VTCT L3 Award in Education & Training

Pre Requisites: None 

The VTCT Level 3 Award in Education and Training will enable you to enter teaching employment and progress on to a higher qualification.

This course covers preparation, planning and basic course design. You will also gain teaching delivery skills and participate in micro-teaching sessions. 

This qualification provides a sound introduction to teaching/training and is suitable for both experienced practitioners who would like to secure a professionally recognised qualification as well as those new to teaching.

There are 3 detailed manuals that sit alongside this course that are sent out as pre reading.

Day one we will teach using the detailed manual for unit one. The assignment is set and day two is programmed when this is completed. 

Day two we teach using a power point and detailed manual for unit two. The assignment is set and day three is programmed when this is completed.

Day three we teach using a power point and detailed manual for unit three. The assignment is set and day four is programmed when this is completed.

Day four you will be observed completing a 60-minute teaching session, where you will follow your own lesson plan and created resources for the lesson. Feedback will be given and your portfolio completed. 

The course will cover the following topics:

  • Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training
  • Professional ethics
  • Teaching and learning theories
  • Learning styles
  • Legislations
  • Knowledge of assessment methods 

Duration: 4 days plus assignments

VTCT L4 Certificate in Education & Training

 Pre Requisites: None

The VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training is a qualification designed to enable you to develop practical teaching skills. 

The VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training will enable you to work in a teaching role and progress on to a broader teaching qualification. This qualification is suitable for trainee teachers, those experienced in a teaching role and those working as assessors who wish to gain a teaching qualification.

You can progress from the VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training directly into employment as a teacher in the further education sector.

There are 6 taught days and assignments for you to complete during this course alongside 30 hours of teaching practice plus teaching observations.

The course will cover the following topics:

  • The role, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
  • Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training
  • Professional ethics
  • Learning theories
  • Learning styles
  • Teaching theories
  • Legislations
  • Knowledge of assessment methods

Duration: 30 teaching hours, 6 days + assignments + teaching observations

VTCT L5 Diploma in Education & Training

Pre Requisites: L4 Certificate

The VTCT Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training qualification will provide you with the knowledge, understanding and skills to teach, and develop a range of personal qualities and attributes required for teaching, assessing and supporting learners. 

You will learn about wider professional practice, theories, principles and models in education as well as teaching, learning and assessment in education.

During your course you will also have the opportunity to choose from a range of optional units including action research, inclusive practice, teaching in a specialist area and preparing for the personal tutoring role. 

This qualification is a nationally recognised qualification for those individuals who aspire to, or hold, a teaching role with an extensive range of teaching or training responsibilities.

There are 7 taught days and assignments for you to complete during this course alongside 100 hours of teaching practice plus teaching observations.

The course will cover the following topics:

  • The role, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
  • Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training
  • Professional ethics
  • Learning theories
  • Learning styles
  • Teaching theories

  • Knowledge of assessment methods

Duration: 100 teaching hours, 7 days plus assignments & teaching observations

VTCT L3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement

Pre Requisites: None 

The primary outcome of the VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement is to prepare you to enter the specific sector of education and training as a vocational assessor. All the units in this qualification relate directly to the specific job role of vocational assessor.

This qualification includes units covering the principles and practices of assessment, assessing learners’ occupational competence in the workplace and assessing vocational skills, and knowledge and understanding of education and training.

There is a detailed manual that sits alongside this course that is sent out as a pre reading element.

Day one we will teach using a power point presentation and the detailed manual. The assignment is set and day two is programmed when this is completed. 

Day two is a professional discussion which will complete the theory for this qualification and preperation for the practical element covered in day three.

Day three you will be assessing 2 learners using a variety of assessment methods and completing your portfolio.

The course will cover the following topics:

  • The role of the Assessor
  • Different Assessment Methods
  • Prepare and plan for assessment
  • Providing feedback to learners
  • Regulations and requirements
  • Appeals procedure
  • RPL, Exception & Equivalence
  • Reasonable adjustments 

    Duration: 3 days + assignments + observations

    VTCT L4 Award in IQA of assessment processes and practice

    Pre Requisites: Assessors qualification

    The VTCT Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice is a practical-based qualification intended for those who maintain the quality of assessment from within an organisation or assessment centre.

    There is a detailed manual that sits alongside this course that is sent out as a pre reading element.

    Day one we will teach using a power point presentation and the detailed manual. The assignment is set and day two is programmed when this is completed. 

    Day two is a professional discussion and check of all IQA policies and procedures  which will complete the theory for this qualification and preperation for the practical element covered in day three.

    Day three you will be IQA sampling 2 assessors using a variety of assessment methods and completing your portfolio.

    The course will cover the following topics:

    • The role of the IQA
    • Functions of IQA
    • Prepare and plan for IQA
